Football

The game last night was a blast! Italian football (soccer) fans are a loud bunch. The fans of the visiting team have a police escort into the game, where they sit in their own section. Their section has 30-foot high fences enclosing them and riot police on either laptop battery side to prevent anyone from getting within 50 feet of the section. That sounds really bad and dagerous - but it wasn’t dagerous at all! What it was was COLD! I was bundled up as much as possible and extacy I was still way way too cold. But football matches are far better in person than on the TV. I got a few photos, but not too many, I didn’t want to take my hands out of my pockets! Some are through the 10 foot high plexiglass walls that enclose the field, so they are a bit blurry. You’ll notice a little red in some of the photos - that’s from all the _road flares_ that the fans are allowed to bring in for the start of the game. crazy crazy stuff…
