Claus Costa

The painter Claus Costa was born in 1971 in Brazil.

With Michelangelo as inspiration Claus started his studies on drawing and later moved to painting. One can still notice the passion for drawing in his realistic paintings. Claus painting works are always build on a drawing framework that becomes colorful and alive with each brushstroke. The artist mastered his technical skills always adding energy and emotion to his work when applying colour and using mixed materials.

Claus' mind is a rollercoaster of ideas. Creativity and freedom have ruled his life. He has the ability and sensitivity to bring diverse elements to an empty canvas and make them live again through the delicate but expressive shades of his own intense emotions. The results are always astonishingly contemporary, therefore his painting have the quality to talk straight to everyone of us.

Full of energy and interested in in Eastern culture, Claus has lived in different places and these experiences have always enriched his work, that now can be seen all over Europe.

Icons, pop images: this is the main inspiration of Claus' art. This artist's works are born from diverse influences, but are never disconnected from an essential need to organize the contemporary chaos of images in which we live in, and make them meaningful and (why not?) beautiful.
